The client

An international energy company was selected to support the construction of a new nuclear power facility in the UK. The project required the deployment of highly specialised international personnel, each with different technical roles, skills and assignment durations.

The challenge

The client needed to ensure that these workers could enter and work in the UK lawfully while meeting the strict requirements of the UK immigration system, and to manage the potential tax and social security implications of deploying an international workforce. The challenge was to identify the most appropriate immigration routes for multiple categories of workers while maintaining compliance and controlling project costs.

Our approach

We began by analysing the workforce requirements and categorising personnel based on their roles, responsibilities and expected duration in the UK.

This structured approach allowed us to identify the most appropriate UK immigration routes for each group of workers and align those options with the project timeline.

We then prepared a detailed strategy outlining:

  • suitable UK immigration routes for each worker category
  • the compliance requirements involved
  • the potential tax and social security considerations
  • the estimated costs associated with each option

This provided the client’s leadership team with a clear understanding of the immigration requirements and the operational impact of deploying specialist personnel to the UK.

The result

With a clear immigration strategy in place, the client was able to deploy specialist personnel to the UK in a compliant and structured way.

This ensured that the project could access the expertise it required while meeting UK immigration requirements and maintaining control over workforce costs.

By aligning immigration strategy with project planning, the client was able to move forward with confidence and keep the project on schedule.

Why it worked

Projects involving highly specialised international personnel require careful immigration planning and compliance management.

Immtell provided the expertise needed to help the client navigate complex UK immigration requirements while supporting the successful delivery of a major infrastructure project.
