UK Tourist Visitor Visa

UK Tourist Visa - A Gateway to Explore Britain

A trip to the United Kingdom offers an exquisite mix of history, culture, and natural beauty. The UK Tourist Visitor Visa is the key to unlock the door to these experiences.

What is a UK Tourist Visa?

A UK tourist visa, officially known as a Standard Visitor Visa, is granted to individuals wishing to visit the UK for leisure, to explore the country, visit family and friends, or partake in a short course of study. It’s an excellent way to immerse oneself in British life, history, and culture.

UK Tourist Visa Requirements

The requirements for a UK Tourist Visa include:

  • Valid travel document (e.g. passport).
  • Proof of financial means to support yourself during the trip.
  • Details of where you intend to stay and your travel itinerary.
  • Proof of any business or study requirements, if applicable.

Note: The exact requirements may vary depending on your specific circumstances.

The Application Process

The application process for a UK tourist visa involves the following steps:

  1. Collecting necessary documentation.
  2. Filling the online application form.
  3. Paying the visa fee.
  4. Scheduling an appointment at the visa application centre for biometric information.
  5. Attending the visa interview, if required.

As a UK tourist visa applicant, you must demonstrate that you have a genuine reason for visiting the UK, can maintain and accommodate yourself during the visit and have sufficient ties to your home country to show the authorities that you intend to leave the UK. Although a third party may sponsor you, the Entry Clearance Officers (ECOs) will also consider your personal circumstances.

Study of up to 30 days is permitted for holders of UK tourist visit visas, providing the study is incidental to the primary purpose of the visit.

You can work remotely while in the UK, but providing remote work is not the primary purpose of your visit.

It is permitted to apply for UK tourist visas with a validity period of six months, two years, five years or ten years with varying applicable fees. However, the Entry Clearance Officer (ECO) has discretion and may issue a visa with a shorter validity period than applied for. Usually, UK tourism visas are valid for multiple entries to the UK during the validity period indicated on the vignette.

The maximum time to stay in the UK at any time is six months. Tourist visits must, however, not lead to living in the UK through frequent and successive visits. As a starting point, the individual should not spend more than six months in the UK in any rolling 12-month period, although this is a guide only and not stated in the immigration rules. The Immigration Officer at the port of entry has the authority to assess the individual’s intentions, which can lead to cancelled tourist visitor visas and refusal of entry to the UK.

It is not possible to add dependant family members to a UK tourist visa application.  However, they may submit their own application, which will usually be processed at the same time as the ‘main applicant’.

All applications submitted in accordance with the UK Standard Visitor Rules must be made from outside of the UK.

UKVI aim to process tourist visit visas as follows:

Visa applications submitted outside of the UK:

  • Standard processing: 15 working days
  • Priority Service processing: 5 working days

Important: UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) does not guarantee processing times, and delays do occur. We advise that you only book non-refundable travel once your visa has been approved and your work visa is in your possession.  Priority services can be suspended without notice and may not be available during application.

The UKVI application fees are as follows:

  • Up to 6 months: £115
  • Up to 2 years: £432
  • Up to 5 years: £771
  • Up to 10 years: £963

Our professional fee will depend on the level of service you require.
